Establishment of BFNL Independent Tribunal

In a move to further enhance the strength of the McDonalds Ballarat FNL operations, the league board have resolved to withdraw from the AFL Goldfields Independent Tribunal and implement a BFNL Independent Tribunal.

Following concerns and feedback from stakeholders of the Ballarat FNL, it was determined the judiciary process for all McDonalds Ballarat FNL competitions will be overseen by the new tribunal.

The move to establish a BFNL Independent Tribunal further enhances the management of issues and operations under the umbrella of the BFNL to ensure the correct and best outcomes are achieved as a priority for our member clubs.

The league has secured two co-chairs of the new tribunal with exceptional experience and standing within the sporting communities of Ballarat and Victoria.

Roger LeGrand is well known in the BFNL and surrounding leagues for his many years of experience as an umpire, coach and mentor that has seen his knowledge utilised at regional and state level.

Joining Roger as co-chair will be Peter Brady, current AFL Goldfields Independent Tribunal panel member, a leading administrator with many years’ experience in cricket circles and a sound knowledge of processes and procedures.

Roger and Peter will be joined by a panel of members made up of experience and understanding of community expectations, knowledge of football and the ability to independently assess matters presented to them.

The BFNL Independent Tribunal will operate at arm’s length to the Ballarat FNL with operational oversight provided by BFNL staff.

The announcement of the BFNL Independent Tribunal is an exciting step in the continual review of the Ballarat FNL to achieve best standards for clubs in the region.
